Gainesville man dies in crash
Joshua Pierce, of 6900 Susquehanna Road, lost control of the 1992 Saturn sedan he was driving and ran into a parked truck, Chinn said.
The parked truck, which was partially in the road, did not impede traffic flow, Chinn said.
Pierce was flown to Inova Fairfax hospital where he died at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, Chinn said.
The car Pierce was driving was equipped with an automatic shoulder harness that operates to secure the occupant’s upper body when the car door closes, Chinn said.
The car also comes equipped with a lap belt that Pierce had not fastened, Chinn said.
Police believe the use of alcohol contributed to the accident, Chinn said.
Pierce’s family said arrangements will be made today.
