Dale City woman dies in car crash

A 25-year-old Dale City woman was killed in a car accident Sunday at about 2:30 p.m.,on Prince William Parkway near Hynson Drive, just outside Manassas, said 1st Sgt. Kim Chinn, Prince William police spokeswoman.

Serene Beeton, of the 3300 block of Bellflower Court, died at the scene when the 2001 Ford Mustang in which she was a passenger crossed the center of the Parkway and ran into a Ford Windstar van, Chinn said.

Police believe speed was a contributing factor to the accident, Chinn said.

Eric Lashbaugh, of the 18000 block of Chestnut Drive in Triangle, who was driving the Mustang, was in critical condition after the accident and was flown to a regional hospital, Chinn said.

Lashbaugh, 28, and Beeton were not wearing seat belts, Chinn said.

The driver of the Windstar van, Denise Tamer, 47, of Prescott Avenue in Manassas was taken to Prince William Hospital and was in stable condition, Chinn said.

Tamer was wearing a seat belt, Chinn said.

Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident. No charges have been filed, but police will continue the accident investigation, Chinn said.
