… Organizers of the eighth annual Festival of Trees, which will benefit Transitional Housing BARN and is being held in memory of Agnes L. Colgan, a devoted friend to BARN. She was very active in the inception of the Festival of Trees, working many volunteer hours in preparation for the festival and in promoting it. In 2000 she served as honorary chair. The festival will be conducted Nov. 18 at Foxchase Manor with the theme “A Celtic Christmas.”

… Theater lovers, who can celebrate the fall season with the classic tale of “Sleepy Hollow” and the adventures of the headless horseman. A talented cast of 40 makes Pied Piper Theatre’s musical production a must-see for the entire family. As the new schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane, played by Bryan Chabrow and the local town bully, Brom Bones (Jacob Higginbottom), vie for the affection of Katrina Van Tassel (Suzanne Eskelund), local villagers fill Ichabod’s imagination with strange legends of a pirate and his buried treasure, the tale of the lady in white, and the midnight rides of a houseman searching for his missing head. This is the final weekend for the play, Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. at Gar-Field High School, 14000 Smoketown Road, Woodbridge.

… Readers, who will have a chance to win small prizes at the Prince William Library System from Nov. 12-18 in celebration of Children’s Book Week. When a library patron checks out a “lucky book” pre-selected by the librarians, the computers at the checkout desk will report the patron is a “Lucky Reader” and he or she will immediately receive a small prize.

Losers

… Prince William County voters who don’t plan to go the polls Nov. 7 and fail to take the opportunity to vote on three amendments to the Virginia Constitution, one Senate seat, one seat in the House of Representative for the voter’s congressional district, three bonds specific to the county, a representative to fill the vacant 50th District House of Delegates and chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors.

… Travelers who may be grounded and have their vacation trip ruined if they have not secured a passport to travel by air, land or sea to Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda, starting next year.
