Manassas Journal Messenger | Driver found dead near Haymarket

A 20-year-old woman was found dead Sunday morning after apparently driving her car into a run-off pond near Haymarket, Prince William County police said.

Bethany Nicole Wear, of 13210 Catharpin Valley Drive in the Heritage Farms subdivision, was found dead in her Chevrolet Tahoe around 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning, said 1st Sgt. Kim Chinn, police spokeswoman.

Police are still investigating the incident to determine how Wear crashed into the pond, Chinn said.

Police received a call around 2 a.m. for someone seeing tire tracks leading toward the pond. After arriving on the scene, police found Wear dead in the car, Chinn said.

Wear was last seen around 2 a.m. Saturday, which was also her 20th birthday. Chinn said drugs or alcohol could be factors in the crash.

“There are a lot of coulds right now,” Chinn said. “It appears, though, that this was not a typical automobile accident.”
