Senior Crystal Phipps hit a two-run triple and sophomore Katie Knoll added an RBI single in a five-run sixth inning that gave the Brentsville softball team a 6-3 comeback victory over Clarke County in Berry ville.

Knoll went 2 for 3 and Jessica Bryan was 2 for 4 for the Tigers, who improved to 5-0 in the Bull Run District and 6-5 overall.

One day after routing George Mason 14-3, Brentsville overall a 3-1 deficit to stay in first place.

Freshman Brittany Bailey earned a complete-game victory. She allowed six hits and struck out five in seven innings.

BOYS LACROSSE

? OSBOURN PARK 15, OSBOURN 0: Patrick Bailey had five goals and four assists to lead the Osbourn Park lacrosse team past Osbourn 15-0 on Wednesday night.

Nick Olson and Brandon Brennan added two goals and one assist apiece while Brian Bagford notched two goals for the Yellow Jackets, who led 15-0 at halftime. Pete Bolton had one goal and two assists and Dylan Beasley, Bryan Flynn and Bryan Gambini had one goal apiece. David Suthers had nine saves and defender Ken Coultier played well for OP.

OP (4-1, 3-0 Cedar Run district) plays at Gar-Field on Thursday at 7 p.m.

BOYS TENNIS

??Osbourn 9, GAR-FIELD 0: The Eagles rolled to an easy win over the Indians, improving to 8-0 on the year and 44-0 in the last three-plus regular seasons.

John Weber edged Manny Manabat 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 in No.1 singles action while teammate David O’Brien beat the Indians’ Jonathan Orndorff 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. At No. 3, Matt Krawczyk knocked off Kevin Stammetti 6-0, 6-2. At No. 4, Jeff McMahon beat Scott Jansen 6-0, 6-0. At No. 5, Pat Collins defeated Keith Boom 6-4, 6-0. At No. 6, Jose Aguirre beat Dat Ngo 7-6 (4), 6-2.

Weber and O’Brien beat Manabat and Orndorff 10-6 in No. 1 doubles action. At No. 2, Krawczyk and McMahon beat Stammetti and Boom 10-4 and at No. 3, Collins and Aguirre defeated Jansen and Ngo 10-4.

BOYS SOCCER

? OSBOURN 3, POTOMAC 1: Keith Osborne scored the first two goals for the Eagles and assisted on the third as Osbourn raised its record to 5-3-1 overall, 2-0 in the Cedar Run District.

Jarel Moore assisted on both of Osborne’s goals before Osborne set up a goal for Jesus Ruiz. Peter Clark made two saves in the win for the visiting Eagles.

? BRENTSVILLE 4, GEORGE MASON 1: Brentsville came out on top in a rematch of last year’s Group A title game. In 2002, the Mustangs beat Brentsville for the state title.

On Tuesday, the Tigers (4-2, 4-0 Bull Run District) got individual goals from Erin Germaine, Ryan Ruhstorfer, Hailey Peters and Stephanie Hair to earn the win.
